Collective Worship

Vision

Worship is a chance for the children to come together and develop their spirituality and critical thinking. It is an opportunity to be together as a school in a calm and reflective environment. As a church school, we celebrate faith and learn about values to support us in life.

Worship at St John’s

At St John’s, we give children the opportunity to explore their spirituality through stories, songs and prayer. Worship is a collaborative process which includes visitors from different faiths and backgrounds, teachers and the children themselves. Children can take part in worship by writing their own prayers, giving reflections and leading worships.

We believe it is important for the children to be given time to reflect in worship and think about how what they have learnt relates to their lives.

The children learn stories from the Bible and secular stories to help instil the values and understand them fully.  We use links with the local community to celebrate various festivals throughout the year, including, Diwali, Hanukah, Christmas, Lunar New Year and Easter.

We have recently opened our Spiritual Garden in the playground. This is an area to reflect and think about the world, God and ourselves.
