In-Year Applications
(Reception – Year 2)
Parents wishing to make an application for this current year, you must submit a new 'In Year application' form. Your child will not be considered for any places that become available unless a new application has been noted by Hertfordshire County Council this academic year. This information is published in the in-year guidance notes on Hertfordshire County Council's website.

Appeals
A parent or carer can appeal online after receiving written confirmation that their child has been refused a place.
The process is:
- Go to Hertfordshire County Council’s School Appeals page.
- Select the relevant type of appeal: primary, secondary, sixth form or in-year.
- Log into the Hertfordshire School Appeals system and complete a separate appeal for each school refused.
- Provide the child’s ID and reference number from the refusal or application-response letter.
- Set out why that particular school is right for the child and upload relevant supporting evidence, such as professional medical or social evidence.
- Submit it by the deadline stated in the refusal letter or on the relevant admissions timetable. Parents must normally be allowed at least 20 school days to appeal.
