"Start children off on the way they should go and even when they are old, they will not turn from it" Proverbs 22:6

Year 2 Memorial Service

The current situation did not stop Year 2 performing a Remembrance Service for the soldiers who died fighting in World War I. Although we had planned to walk to the cenotaph in Radlett for our service, Year 2 persevered and created a cenotaph with cardboard boxes in the hall.  We then gathered around the cenotaph for our service which began with laying the poppy wreath and was followed by prayers for the fallen soldiers written by the children. We then bowed our heads as we listened to the Last Post for our two-minute silence. Even in these unprecedented times it is still important to celebrate these special occasions and it was a fun but moving event for the children as we go into our World War I topic this term.
